Traditional WOOD BURNING Fire Pits/Cooking Kettles

It’s been a while so thought you would like a followup: we LOVE our fire kettle!!!! Have been cooking on it quite a bit, from paella to ribs to chicken to rib roasts. Have also used the sidekick to cook veggies and grits with our Smithey Dutch oven and a collection of Lodge cast iron pieces. And everything’s turned out delicious—not to mention raves and interest from our guests.

Getting the hang of modifying position and height as well as fire density was easier than I thought, probably because of my past BBQ experience with my smoker. A bit different than a traditional stick slow cooker but the learning curve has been relatively easy— and now my preferred way of cooking. The traditional grill isn’t getting much use these days!!!

We added the 50-Gallon Kettle in front of our farm cabin and it has become the gathering spot for every weekend and holiday we spend there. We start a fire when we get there, and just keep it going! Breakfast on the Kettle has become the family favorite. The kids put down their phones and actually hang out with us!

I was tired of having to replace the fire kettles and fore outs that you can buy form the chain stores after a year or so due to rusting out.

I’m happy to say that isn’t even remotely a possibility with this SIF kettle! It is built to last!

We decided to begin remodeling the inside of our house during the pandemic and desperately needed some time outside of our home to relax and enjoy, so we purchased the 30 Gal kettle. However, it wasn't until we got our fire pit that we realized we should have gotten one years ago.

We've had more friends over more often than we thought we ever would and have had a couple of friends plan birthdays hosted at our house simply because of how easy it is to get people to gather and stay around the fire pit. It's also made really well and won't be going anywhere anytime soon, figuratively and literally; it's pretty heavy and solid.

I ordered my kettle with Molly who shared deep knowledge about what the best option for my patio space would be. Shipping was a bit slow due to covid delays, but uncrating was simple because of their YouTube videos. 10/10 best customer experience.
