Two Sizes

Yes. The patent-pending smokeLESS valve changes the airflow, not the fuel. All the joy of a traditional wood fire, with a little more heat and a lot LESS smoke. Note: For the best smokeLESS fireside experience, we recommend using very dry wood. Try our kiln dried firewood varietals for the perfect smokeLESS gathering.
Not necessarily, but our All-Natural Tumbleweed Fire Starters can sure make things easier. A chemical-free firestarter, made of wood and wax. No fumes. No stress.
No, and we don't claim it does. Our patent pending smokeLESS valve works through engineered airflow: 11 square inches of fresh air intake feeds more supplemental oxygen to the fire, producing a hotter, cleaner burn with meaningfully less smoke than a traditional wood burning kettle.
Cooking? Add a little controlled moisture back into your wood and you'll still get the beautiful smoky flavor profile you're after. Just gathering? Skip the moisture and let the valve do its job—less smoke, more time close to the fire.

That really depends on two things: the size of the yard, and the size of the anticipated gathering. The 30 Gallon comfortably gathers 4 to 6 people, at home on a patio or in a smaller yard. The 50 Gallon comfortably gathers 8 to 12 or more, and its well suited to wide open ground and bigger conversations.

We designed the grill to ratchet adjust on an alternating, left and right basis, to allow for micro-level heat adjustments and optimal cooking precision. It's not broken, its purposeful.
Align the cross bars on the valve with the notches on the bottom of the kettle. Drop the valve into place and twist 1/4 turn to lock and secure the valve in place. This will ensure you wont unintentionally dislodge the valve with the fire poker while the fire is burning. To remove the valve for clean up, simple reverse the 1/4 twist and remove the valve from the opening. PLEASE BE SURE THE KETTLE AND VALVE ARE COOL BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO THE REMOVE THE VALVE.
Mostly, yes. The Kettle Bowl, Boot Rail Stand, and every Classic Attachment arrive ready to use, no assembly required. The bowl and stand ship as two separate pieces by design, so you can level the bowl in the stand even on uneven ground. Unpacking the crate is a one or two person job for most of it; the bowl is the heaviest lift, plan for 2 to 3 people on a 30 Gallon and 3 to 4 on a 50 Gallon. Our kettles are made to live outside, and to endure the elements for years to come. Keep it looking its best the same way you'd care for a cast iron skillet, with a combination of vegetable oil and heat. Left unused for a while, the kettle will develop a light layer of surface rust, but that won't affect the integrity of the kettle. A few burn cycles after oiling will bring back the beloved black patina.
The Boot Rail Stand is crafted from hot-dipped galvanized steel, making it highly resistant to rust. The top layer of paint will chip with everyday use, revealing the silvery color of the steel underneath. Simply touch up any worn spots with high heat flat black spray paint (to keep the stand looking brand new), or let it develop its own lived-in look if that's your preference. Both options are fine.
Its worth noting that rainwater can drain through the smokeLESS valve opening at the base of the kettle, and that runoff can eave a stain on a light colored patio or pool deck. Our steel and copper Table Tops protect the surface underneath, and double as a coffee table when the kettle's not in use.
That's normal, not a defect. Every kettle begins as molded liquid metal at our partner foundry, and it's common to see what looks like uneven surface markings inside a new bowl. These imperfections are surface-level only and they will even out after a few burn cycles. We don't paint the inside of the bowl to hide these imperfections, as doing so could release toxic fumes when burned.
